What Is DSOCC #12 and Who Buys It Globally - Active Listing on the Circular Industry Cloud

Posted by Admin on October, 05 2026

DSOCC #12 is one of the most traded recovered fibre grades in the global paper recycling trade. There is an active listing of 1,000 Metric Ton on the Circular Industry Cloud at inacsys.com - origin New York, USA. This post explains what DSOCC #12 is, who generates it, who buys it globally, and how it is graded.

WHAT IS DSOCC #12?

DSOCC stands for Double Sorted Old Corrugated Containers. The #12 designation refers to ISRI Paper Grade #12 - the industry standard classification for double sorted OCC, defined as old corrugated containers that have been sorted twice to remove prohibitives and outthrows to a level of 1% or less.

OCC is the corrugated cardboard boxes and packaging generated by retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and logistics operations. When the cardboard stream is collected and sorted once, it becomes OCC. When it is sorted a second time - removing wet strength paper, gypsum board, and other prohibitives - it becomes DSOCC, the premium corrugated fibre grade.

WHY THE SECOND SORT MATTERS

The double sorting step is what gives DSOCC #12 its value in the export and domestic fibre markets. Standard OCC at 5% outthrows and prohibitives is acceptable for domestic recycled containerboard mills, but export buyers - particularly in India, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia - typically require DSOCC #12 at 1% or less contamination. Mills in these markets are producing containerboard for export packaging and require a consistent, clean furnish.

A single percentage point of contamination makes a material difference in pulping efficiency, yield, and the quality of the recycled liner and fluting produced. That is why DSOCC commands a premium over standard OCC in the export trade.

WHO GENERATES DSOCC #12

The largest generators of DSOCC are distribution centres and logistics operations that receive consistent volumes of clean, single-origin corrugated. Supermarket and retail distribution centres, e-commerce fulfilment operations, and light manufacturing plants that receive corrugated packaging are the primary source material. Because the feedstock is consistent and handled in a controlled environment, the cost of the second sort is recoverable in the price premium.

WHO BUYS DSOCC #12 GLOBALLY

The primary buyers of DSOCC are containerboard mills in South and Southeast Asia - India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. These mills produce recycled containerboard (kraftliner and testliner) for the regional packaging industry. China remains an important market for high-grade recovered fibre despite import restrictions on lower grades introduced since 2018.

Domestically, US and Canadian recycled containerboard mills also purchase DSOCC for use in recycled liner and medium production where a cleaner furnish than standard OCC is specified.

Brokers active in the recovered fibre trade move significant volumes of DSOCC from North American generators to Asian mills, managing logistics, grading verification, and pricing with expertise built over years of relationship.

THE LISTING ON THE CIRCULAR INDUSTRY CLOUD

1,000 Metric Ton of DSOCC #12 is listed and active on inacsys.com, origin New York, USA. Kiwi AI classified the material within the Corrugated and Kraft Packaging taxonomy, generated the ISRI #12-standard product description, and the listing is visible to buyers globally.
