The First Plastics Material Found a Home via the Circular Industry Cloud - LD-Nylon Film Blue Color Heading to Be Upcycled

Posted by Admin on September, 30 2026

The Circular Industry Cloud - Inacsys found a home for this product listed on the platform and the product will be getting upcycled.

A consignment of LD-Nylon Film Blue Color - listed on inacsys.com - has found its buyer. The material originated in Quebec, Canada. This is the first plastics material to find a home via the Circular Industry Cloud.

WHAT WAS LISTED

Listing: LD-Nylon Film Blue Color

Category: Plastics - Coextruded Plastics - Barrier Coextruded

Location: Quebec, Canada

WHAT IS LD-NYLON FILM?

LD-Nylon Film is a coextruded barrier film combining Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Nylon (Polyamide, PA). Coextrusion is the process of simultaneously extruding two or more polymer layers through a single die to produce a multilayer film where each layer contributes different functional properties.

In an LDPE/Nylon coextruded structure:

The LDPE layer provides excellent heat-sealability, flexibility, moisture barrier, and low-temperature performance. LDPE is the most widely used heat-seal layer in flexible packaging.

The Nylon (Polyamide) layer provides high oxygen barrier, puncture resistance, mechanical strength, and high-temperature resistance. Nylon is specified for food packaging, vacuum pouches, retort packaging, and applications requiring both oxygen and aroma barrier.

Combined, an LDPE/Nylon coextruded film delivers the packaging performance required for demanding food and industrial applications - particularly vacuum packaging, boil-in-bag, and modified atmosphere packaging.

Blue Color indicates that a blue pigment masterbatch has been incorporated into one or more of the film layers, typically for brand identification, opaque packaging, or to indicate a specific product line.

WHAT IS OFF SPEC IN PLASTICS FILM?

Off Spec (Off Specification) in plastics film production refers to film rolls or material that fails to meet one or more production specification parameters - including:

Film thickness out of tolerance

Width variation outside specification

Surface defect, gel, or fish-eye count above acceptable limits

Optical properties - haze, gloss, colour - outside specification

Mechanical properties below specification - tensile strength, elongation, seal strength

Pigment distribution issues (relevant for colour films like this blue LDPE/Nylon)

Off-spec film is not defective material in an absolute sense - it is material that does not meet the specific production requirements of the primary customer or production run. For coextruded barrier film, off-spec material often retains significant resin value and functional performance.

WHO BUYS OFF-SPEC COEXTRUDED BARRIER FILM?

The primary buyers of off-spec LDPE/Nylon coextruded film include:

Reprocessors and compounders: who reclaim the polymer value by grinding and recompounding the film into recycled LDPE or PA resin pellets for use in non-food applications.

Agricultural film producers: who use reclaimed LDPE with nylon content for silage film, mulch film, and greenhouse film production where barrier performance is less critical than mechanical strength and moisture barrier.

Flexible packaging convertors: in markets with lower quality thresholds, particularly in South and Southeast Asia, who use off-spec barrier film for non-food industrial packaging applications.

Film as industrial packaging: in some cases, off-spec film that retains adequate seal strength is used directly as industrial packaging material rather than being reprocessed.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR THE CIRCULAR INDUSTRY CLOUD

This is the first plastics material to find a home via the Circular Industry Cloud. Plastics is the second major material category on inacsys.com alongside paper. The platform now has active listings and proven trades in both categories.

LD-Nylon Film Blue Color - Barrier Coextruded - Off Spec Rolls from Quebec, Canada. The Circular Industry Cloud found the buyer. The material is heading to be upcycled.
