WHAT IS WHITE LEDGER PAPER?
White Ledger is a recovered paper grade generated from office and commercial environments - predominantly white printing and writing paper from offices, corporate facilities, print shops, and institutional sources. It is one of the cleanest recovered paper grades in the office waste stream, with high brightness and low contamination when properly sorted.
In the ISRI grading system, White Ledger corresponds to ISRI Paper Grade #2 - Ledger - defined as white wood-free paper in the form of computer printout, writing, and bond paper. It is a premium furnish component for tissue and towelling mills requiring high-brightness recycled furnish, specialty paper mills producing white recycled grades, and deinking mills producing deinked pulp (DIP) for newsprint and printing paper production.
WHAT IS GWD?
GWD stands for Groundwood - paper manufactured using mechanical pulp rather than chemical pulp. Groundwood paper has lower brightness and shorter fibre length than woodfree paper and is used in newsprint, directories, and lower-grade publications.
White Ledger with 20% GWD indicates a sorted office paper grade that contains up to 20% groundwood-containing paper - magazines, glossy inserts, or directory paper - mixed in with the predominantly woodfree white office paper. The 20% GWD content is an industry-standard qualifier that tells buyers the brightness and deinking yield of the grade.
WHO BUYS WHITE LEDGER GLOBALLY?
The primary buyers of White Ledger and CPO are tissue mills in South Asia - particularly India - and deinking mills in Asia that process white office paper into deinked pulp for recycled content printing paper production. European and North American recycled tissue producers also source white office grades for premium recycled tissue production.
New York, USA generates significant office paper volumes from the corporate, institutional, and educational sectors. NY-origin White Ledger is well-positioned for export.
