You Type OCC. Here Is What Kiwi AI Does Next.

Posted by Admin on September, 06 2026

Most search boxes in recycled materials trade return a list of results. You type a word. You get results. You sort through them.

Kiwi AI does something different.

This post walks through exactly what happens when a user types "OCC" on the Inacsys platform - because the screenshots tell the story better than any description.

STEP 1: TYPE "OCC" ON THE HOMEPAGE

The search bar on inacsys.com is a Kiwi AI-powered search. It is not a keyword search. When you type OCC and hit Search, Kiwi does not look for the letters O, C, C. It looks for what OCC is.

STEP 2: KIWI RETURNS THE GRADE TAXONOMY

The first thing Kiwi shows is not a list of listings. It is a structured response:

"Found Baled Waste Paper OCC 95/5 - 3 live listings on the right. Here is what I know about it."

Then Kiwi · Grade Taxonomy:

- Paper ? Corrugated & Kraft Packaging ? Corrugated Board (OCC 95/05) (1.05.01)

- Raw material: Unbleached Chemical Kraft / Sulphate Pulp

- Formats: Bales

- Also known as: OCC

Simultaneously, on the right panel, live listings matching OCC appear with real prices and locations.

This is what intelligence-first means. Kiwi identifies the grade, places it in the taxonomy, and surfaces matching supply at the same time. The user does not need to know that OCC 95/5 maps to 1.05.01 or that it is Corrugated & Kraft Packaging under the EN 643 hierarchy. Kiwi already knows.

STEP 3: KIWI SURFACES MARKET CONTEXT AND SYNONYMS

Kiwi · Market Context shows the full synonym cloud for the grade: OCC 95/5 · OCC · 1.05.01 · Cardboard · Corrugated Cardboard · DSOCC. These are the terms that a buyer in one market and a seller in another market might use for the same material. Kiwi bridges them.

STEP 4: FOR SELLERS - THE LISTING FLOW

When a seller clicks "Create a listing for OCC," the listing creation screen opens. Kiwi Grade Intelligence panel activates. The seller sees every OCC grade variant matched from the taxonomy — OCC 95/5, OCC 90/10, DS OCC, Corrugated paper and board packaging. They select the grade that describes their material.

STEP 5: KIWI GENERATES THE FULL ISRI SPECIFICATION

When a seller selects DS OCC, Kiwi immediately generates:

Kiwi · Grade Found: "I found Baled Waste Paper · Double-Sorted Old Corrugated (DS OCC) in the Inacsys grade hierarchy - matched to Corrugated & Kraft Packaging."

Kiwi · Use Cases: "This grade is typically used for: Premium OCC substitute for strength improvement in furnish blends. Commands a price premium over standard OCC."

Kiwi · Product Description: "Double-sorted corrugated containers, generated from supermarkets and/or industrial/commercial facilities, specially sorted to be free of boxboard, offshore corrugated, plastic, and wax. ISRI #12. Prohibitive Materials may not exceed 0.5-1%; Outthrows plus prohibitives combined may not exceed 2%."

Kiwi · Knowledge Base - Intelligence sourced from: Inacsys grade hierarchy database · Corrugated & Kraft Packaging · Paper · Kiwi knowledge base.

STEP 6: THE LISTING DETAILS FORM IS PRE-FILLED

When the seller proceeds to Step 2 (Listing Details), the Kiwi Listing Assistant has already populated the AI suggestions panel: Use Case, Short Description (ISRI-standard), and Full Description - all ready to apply with a single click. The seller adds their quantity, location, price, and photos. Kiwi handles the grade intelligence.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Every previous recyclable materials platform asked sellers to describe their material in a free-text field. The result: "OCC, good quality, 1000MT available." That is not a listing a buyer in Rotterdam or Mumbai can act on.

Kiwi does not ask the seller to describe the grade. It already knows the grade. The seller confirms it. The description is built from the standards the global trade uses - ISRI, EN 643, and RIC.

This is what intelligence-first means. The grade vocabulary is in the platform before the first listing. The work the seller used to do — five clarifying questions, email threads, spec clarification — is done before the first conversation begins.

The Starter plan is free. Search any grade at inacsys.com.
