When a technology platform recently raised millions in early 2026, their press release contained one line worth noting: "AI can't solve a market that hasn't been digitized."
They were right about the problem. But the implication - digitize first, add AI later - is exactly backwards for a platform that needs to create a new market, not automate an existing one.
Here is why Inacsys built intelligence first.
THE LISTING QUALITY PROBLEM
Every previous digital platform for recyclable paper and plastics has failed to create genuine market liquidity for the same structural reason: listings are not useful enough.
When a generator describes their OCC in a free-text field as "Old Corrugated Containers, good quality, 200 ton," that listing is not actionable for a buyer. It requires clarifying questions on contamination level, moisture content, bale density, grade specification, and documentation before a purchasing decision can begin. At that point, the platform has not reduced friction - it has merely moved the same friction from phone calls to messages.
The result: platforms accumulate listings, but trade does not accelerate, because the information quality of the listings does not support efficient matching.
WHY INTELLIGENCE MUST COME FIRST
Kiwi AI was built before listing volume because the grade intelligence layer is what makes listings useful from the first one that goes live.
When a founding generator selects OCC-11 on Inacsys, they are not filling a free-text field. They are selecting from a grade taxonomy built from ISRI specifications and EN 643/CEPI standards - and Kiwi AI surfaces the specification, contamination tolerances, prohibited materials list, standard end uses, and market synonyms automatically. The generator confirms what is specific to their lot. The listing is grade-accurate from the first input.
When a buyer searches for DSOCC to European EN 643 specification, the search returns listings described in the same standard. When the AP Match Score is calculated for a buyer-listing pair - across grade specification, format, technical compatibility, use case, and geographic factors - the score means something because the underlying data is structured.
You cannot retrofit this. A platform with 50,000 free-text listings cannot be upgraded to grade intelligence. The data quality problem is structural.
THE MARKET WINDOW
Majority platforms operating in the recyclable materials space are either building listing volume without grade intelligence, focused on specific verticals, or geo-locked to single markets.
None has built an AI-powered grade intelligence layer covering the complete global grade standards for both paper and plastics simultaneously.
This is the window. The market is moving faster than platforms built on free-text can pivot their data architecture. Inacsys is building into that window with intelligence-first, global, paper-and-plastics combined.
