How Real-Time Bidding Creates Price Transparency in Recyclable Materials Trade

We have spent this week introducing the concept of a Circular Industry Cloud - and the structural problems it is designed to address. Today, one of the most specific and practical things the platform does from Day 1: real-time bidding with full market visibility.

HOW IT WORKS AT LAUNCH

From September 5, participants on Inacsys can place curated listings - describing their material, its grade specification, quantity, and asking price. These listings are visible to all registered users globally.

Buyers can browse listings and place bids. Those bids are also visible - meaning any registered user can see, for a given grade in a given market, what the current range of asking prices and bids looks like.

This is simple. It is not algorithmically complex. It does not require a proprietary index or a price-setting mechanism. It simply requires that participants - buyers and sellers - are on the same platform and can see what the other is doing.

WHY THIS HAS NEVER EXISTED

In every market where price transparency has arrived - oil, copper, agricultural commodities, even second-hand goods - the transformation happened not because someone invented a better pricing algorithm, but because information that was previously private became visible.

The broker in the recyclable materials market holds pricing information privately, by design. The value of that information is the basis of the brokerage function. The moment a platform allows buyers and sellers to see a reference point for what the market is trading at - a snapshot of actual listings and actual bids - the information asymmetry that powers pure information-arbitrage brokering begins to shift.

This is not a criticism of brokers. It is an observation about how markets evolve. Every commodity market that has developed price transparency has seen intermediaries evolve alongside it - focusing on the value they add beyond information: logistics expertise, quality assessment, counterparty relationships, documentation management. Those functions retain value in a transparent market.

WHAT IT IS NOT

Price transparency on Inacsys is not a price-setting mechanism. The platform does not publish an official index. It does not guarantee that the prices visible on the platform represent the market at large - at launch, with a founding network of early participants, it represents a sample of the market, which will grow as participation grows.

It is not price discovery in the formal commodity market sense - that requires volume, tenure, and aggregated activity that builds over time.

What it is, from Day 1: the ability for a generator to see what comparable material is being listed and bid at before they enter a negotiation. The ability for a buyer to see what supply is available globally at what asking price before they place their bid.

For a market that currently operates with no reference points at all, this is a meaningful change.

THE FOUNDATION OF PRICE DISCOVERY

Price discovery - the formal process by which a market determines prices through aggregated activity - is built over time. It requires enough participants, enough transactions, and enough data that the platform's price signals begin to reflect the market broadly.

The founding network is the cohort that begins building this. Every listing, every bid, every completed trade adds a data point. The founding members whose activity is on the platform from Day 1 are building the intelligence layer that eventually supports genuine price discovery - for the whole industry, not just themselves.

That is what makes being first genuinely valuable - not just early access, but participation in building something that the market has never had.

Founding access opens until midnight, September 4. Platform goes live September 5, 2026 globally.
